About Sauder Village
Recognized as Ohio’s largest living history destination, Sauder Village offers unique opportunities for guests to experience life in rural northwest Ohio. In the Historic Village guests can enjoy activities and stories shared in the community shops, Native American area, Pioneer Settlement, historic homes, farm and garden. Guests of all ages enjoy visiting places like the 1910 Homestead, District 16 School, Grist Mill, Herb Shop, Depot, Church and General Store. Depending on the day and season, guests can often try activities like washing clothes on a scrub board, helping make pie crust or homemade noodles, meet animals in the barnyard and help make homemade butter!
Throughout the Village guests can watch as craftsmen blend skill and creativity in glass, metals, fabric, wood and clay. These talented traditional and contemporary craftsmen not only demonstrate their trade but also offer hand-crafted items available for sale in places like the Spinning Shop, Pottery Shop, Glass Shop, Weaving Shop and Tiffin River Woodworks.
Built in 1976 by Erie J. Sauder, non-profit Sauder Village has continued to grow and change through the years. In addition to the living-history village and unique shops, guests visiting Sauder Village also enjoy a home-style meal at the Barn Restaurant and homemade goodies from the Doughbox Bakery. For those looking to extend their stay, overnight accommodations are available at the Heritage Inn or Sauder Village Campground.
